ABOUT THE SHOW
Founded in New Jersey in 1980, The Smithereens have spent over four decades delivering hook driven, no frills rock and roll that bridges classic power pop and alternative rock. With more than 17 albums and over 2,500 live performances, the band’s influence has stretched far beyond their Garden State roots, earning heavy rotation on MTV and appearances on The Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
On March 13, 2026, The Smithereens bring their enduring catalog to Talking Stick Resort Showroom, performing the songs that made them staples of American rock radio. From club stages in the NYC tri-state area to iconic venues like Radio City Music Hall and the Greek Theatre, their live shows remain direct, energetic, and deeply connected to their audience.
Following the passing of lead singer Pat DiNizio in 2017, original members Jim Babjak, Dennis Diken, and Mike Mesaros chose to continue honoring the band’s legacy by collaborating with respected guest vocalists. This performance features John Cowsill, known for his work with The Cowsills and The Beach Boys, bringing his powerful vocals and deep musical history to the stage.
Fans can expect a night of timeless rock songs, tight musicianship, and the unmistakable sound that influenced generations of artists, including Kurt Cobain. This is a rare opportunity to experience a legendary American rock band live in an intimate Scottsdale setting.
