REO Speedwagon is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Champaign, Illinois. The band's name is derived from a 1915 REO Speed Wagon, a type of truck. Initially rooted in hard rock, REO Speedwagon evolved into one of the defining acts of the soft rock and arena rock movements of the late 1970s and 1980s.

The band's lineup solidified with key members Kevin Cronin (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Gary Richrath (lead guitar), Bruce Hall (bass, vocals), Alan Gratzer (drums), and Neal Doughty (keyboards). REO Speedwagon gained prominence with hits like "Ridin' the Storm Out," "Take It on the Run," and "Can't Fight This Feeling." Their 1981 album, Hi Infidelity, was a massive success, reaching multi-platinum status and producing several chart-topping singles.
